Back after a nearly 15-year hiatus, Maserati is proud to announce the debut of its newest supercar — the MC20. In terms of the name, MC stands for Maserati Corse and 20 for 2020. This thrilling new supercar will launch with an all-new F1-Inspired Nettuno engine, a 621 horsepower V6 with 538 lb-ft of torque. The MC20 also has the distinction of being 100% designed and assembled in Modena, Italy, and will be constructed at the Viale Ciro Menotti plant. Finally, the MC20 will be the very first Maserati to be engineered with a Carbon Fiber Monocoque for a blend of lightweight agility and strength.
Both conceptually and visually, the MC20 bears a strong resemblance to the MC12, its supercar predecessor that launched the Maserati return to racing back in 2004. Despite the similarities, the MC20 marks the start of an exciting new chapter for the Maserati brand. Shortly after its debut, it’s expected that the MC20 will begin to appear on some of the most challenging race circuits all over the world. If you’ve been waiting to get behind the wheel of the most powerful and technologically advanced supercar ever constructed by Maserati, our team at Maserati of Puente Hills is here to help turn your dreams into a reality.
“The MC20 is a marriage of artistic design and aerodynamic sensibilities, and Maserati thoughtfully color-coded those different elements. The parts of the car that are white? That’s where the designers made the final call. The darker parts along the bottom? All driven by efficiency and performance.” — Roadshow by CNET
“While the MC20 is certainly not a stripped-out, track rat of a car, it conceals its technology remarkably well. Its interior is refreshingly simple and driver-oriented, and every component has a purpose. It wears leather, Alcantara and bare carbon fiber in Maserati’s press images, but other configurations will be available.” — Autoblog
Maserati MC20 Features
As the crown jewel of any supercar, the exhilarating performance of the Maserati M20 comes from its bespoke Nettuno engine. Safeguarded by numerous international patents, the Nuttuno is engineered with a unique V90° architecture for this 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine. The end result is a total of 621 horsepower with 538 lb-ft of torque, allowing the MC20 to achieve a 0-60 time of less than 2.9 seconds and a top speed of over 202 MPH.
Due in part to its innovative Carbon Fiber Monocoque body construction, the MC20 weighs only 3,306 pounds and boasts a best-in-class power to weight ratio of 5.3 pounds/hp. All-electric powertrains are also expected to debut shortly after the release of the MC20. Drivers can choose from four individual drive modes (GT, Wet, Sport, and Corsa) to prioritize certain performance characteristics of their MC20. Marking the Maserati return to racing, look for the MC20 to capture podium finishes on some of the world’s most difficult race circuits.
Precision crafted to instill a visual connection between aerodynamics and beauty, the striking exterior appearance of the Maserati MC20 is a functional work of art. The design team at the Maserati Style Center incorporated data from thousands of hours of wind tunnel testing to achieve an impressive coefficient of drag, measuring less than 0.38 CX. Its unique butterfly doors enhance aerodynamics while offering seamless access in and out of the cabin. Over a thousand CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations were involved in crafting the sleek profile of the MC20. At launch, the six exterior color choices for the MC20 include Bianco Audace, Giallo Genio, Rosso Vincente, Blu Infinito, Nero Enigma, and Grigio Mistero. Each color is exclusive to the MC20 and pays tribute to the rich legacy of Maserati race vehicles of years past.
Inside the cabin of the Maserati MC20, the movements of the driver are placed at the center of the action. Controls are ergonomically positioned within quick reach, in an effort to make driving the main focus. There are twin 10 inch screens: one for the instrument cluster and the other for the Maserati Multimedia System (MIA). The Maserati Connect program provides drivers with access to a full suite of connectivity services such as connected navigation, Alexa compatibility, and a Wifi Hotspot. Authentic carbon fiber lines the center console and genuine Italian leather and Alcantara upholstery are available on key touchpoints and seating surfaces. The minimalist layout of the interior provides little distraction from the exhilaration you’ll feel from the driver’s seat. Instead, all components surround the driver with luxurious comfort and instantaneous connection to their favorite multimedia functions.
