About the Maserati Nettuno Engine

Back after two decades away from the city, Maserati has returned both technological development and race-proven engineering to its iconic Modena HQ in Italy. A remarkably-skilled group of engineers and technicians has worked tirelessly to create this inspiring new powertrain for the upcoming launch of the all-new MC20 supercar.

Secured with a selection of international patents, key attributes of the Nettuno include a sophisticated V90° architecture for this 3.0-liter 6-cylinder twin-turbo engine. With a variety of elements taken from race-proven Formula-1 technologies, the Nettuno demonstrates both enhanced efficiency and heart-racing performance capabilities. Three of the most cutting-edge aspects of the engine are explained below.

• Pre-chamber – A uniquely-designed combustion chamber is located between the central electrode and the traditional combustion chamber, complemented by a series of specially-designed ports.
• Lateral spark plug – When running at a level that doesn’t require the pre-chamber to engage, a conventional spark plug serves as a support system to provide constant combustion.
• Twin injection system (direct and indirect) – Joined to the fuel supply system, this process reduces noise at the bottom end of the rev range, minimizing both emissions and fuel consumption.
